Destin from Smarter Every Day ran an experiment to see if he could unlearn how to ride a bike and learn how to ride a backward bike. This bike's wheel would turn left when you turned the handle right and vice-versus. It took him 8 months to unlearn his old knowledge and train his brain to do something new.
While it is a hilarious video, it holds valuable lessons (and perspectives) about being adaptable, neuroplasticity, our abilities to unlearn, and the big take-away that knowledge does not equal understanding. It also helps us realize that it's not a lack of desire or laziness that prevents picking up new skills. Unlearning and relearning are HARD!
Watch and Enjoy!
